  • Nermine Khenefar: COVID, Kilimanjaro, and Crew

    Egyptian Nermine Khenefar found rowing in her 40s when, winded on her ascent of Mt. Kilimanjaro, friend and explorer Omar Samra suggested she take up the sport to increase her aerobic capacity. After just a few years, Nermine is an avid masters rower and indoor rowing competitor who is seeking to row everywhere she travels and welcome visitors to row with her on the Nile in Cairo, Egypt.

  • Allies with Oars: Racing with Purpose

    Creating truly inclusive racing opportunities.
    Steady State Network’s Allies with Oars initiative promotes inclusion and accessibility for all rowers, regardless of gender identity. We race competitive mixed lineups at major regattas, opening up seats in boats for trans and nonbinary athletes. In 2024 we took on a massive 88k coastal challenge at Race Around the Rock, and returned to Boston for the third consecutive year to row the Head of the Charles Directors' Challenge Mixed8+.
