Back in February, Rachel took a spontaneous trip to Sarasota, Florida to check out the Olympic rowing trials. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were very few people on site at Nathan Benderson Park, and she grabbed a prime spot at the finish line to spectate. A guy with a digital camera kit was shooting video so Rachel decided to introduce herself to talk some shop. Turns out, that guy was Eamon Glavin, who’s close-up, slow-mo rowing videos have gone viral on YouTube and social media channels.
Eamon Glavin is a former high school and collegiate rower who started experimenting with cameras in boats and drones overhead to capture video of rowing unlike anything else we’ve seen in mainstream rowing media. In February 2021 he began following lightweight Olympic hopefuls through training and qualification trials in order to produce a rowing documentary about the journey to the Tokyo Olympics.
